The February meditation carnival – a collection of high-quality articles on meditation

When I said that only the highest quality articles would be selected for this blog carnival I was not joking; as I’m sure you’ll see from the articles posted below. These represent a small proportion of the submissions received. But frankly if it come down to it, I’d have a blog carnival with only one article if it was the only high quality submission.

As a result I can personally guaranty that every linked article is worth reading – and if that was not the case, then what would be the point? There’s far too many mediocre blog carnivals out there already, in keeping with the site’s goals this will remain a thing of quality. ¡Una cosa de calidad!

Pete Michaud on his inspirational personal blog begins an experiment letting go of the use of language in the interests of the nature of reality – Solitude of the Mind.

“I will not read, I will not listen to people speaking, I will not follow written instructions. I will attempt to even quiet my internal dialog, so I can experience complete silence.”

The effects were significant, Pete mentions in a follow up (talking of the following day) – “I noticed while sitting on my porch, that my thoughts, which normally race frantically through my head five or six at a time, slowed down. It felt like the back pressure of my queue of thoughts released, and ideas began to flow in a more orderly manner.”

The results and conclusions inspired Pete to take up a 30 day trial spending one hour a day meditating in silent contemplation – the discoveries of which are regularly posted on his site.

Miche from Serenity Hacker explains beautifully how to find inner calm even when you're doing other things and explains in detail a techinque called walking gratitude meditation – Regain Inner Peace When You're Busy: Walking Gratitude Meditation.

Miche explains the technique very well, clearly understanding the purpose and process of a relaxing meditation process.  "The point here isn’t to beat yourself up about the fact that your mind wanders, it’s rather just to notice when it does."

It's a comment unrelated to the focal techinque of the article, but I particularly like ... "with clarity, focus becomes ... effortless."

Rachayeta from The Viewspaper expounds on the health benefits of meditation – Meditate Your Way to Good Health.

Rachayeta points out the benefits of simple traditional ways of healthy living as opposed to the dubious new-age gadgets available online today – “Natural exercises and remedy present a better cure than all the imposters available in the market. Proper diets, aerobic and anaerobic exercises, yoga, meditation, all affect us positively and there is no fear of side effects either.”

“…if the mind is healthy, we can expect better and healthier body too.” True, and I’d say vice versa also.

Eliza on her personal blog Silver & Grace writes on the subject of casual relaxation during every-day activities – Informal Meditation Helps Tap into the Inner Voice.

Eliza explains some of the many benefits of self-awareness and explains what part this place in her daily life. “I meditate daily in some form or other. Because to me, meditation is any activity that allows my mind to just wander. To get past all the noise and let thoughts bubble up to the surface … I love the white noise created by the vacuum cleaner, or the rumble of the hot tub.  They literally block out the rest of the world.”

Well it’s not really about anything, but that's why I like it... I’ll leave you to check it out yourself .

Cheers! If you have a submission for the next Meditation Carnival then use the link here.

Adios.

Nice collection here :)

Hey buddy,

Its a nice collection of great articles on meditation over here :)

One of my friends is also writing a book on the same concept - The idea of having thoutlessness and complete silence through meditation.

although I have never tried it myself, but I do believe meditation helps people a lot !!

.

Try it - just relax and examine the breath at the end of your nostrils for 5 minutes. Don't have any aims in mind. If thoughts intrude (they will) just accept and return lesuirely to the breath.

The more relaxed you begin your practice, the more you'll enjoy it, and the more you'll get out of it long-term.

The benefits I've received from daily meditation for only 18 months are tremendous.
