Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.

The April meditation carnival – a collection of high-quality articles on meditation

Meditation carnival time, there's a few great articles this month actually. I'm glad to be receiving at least a handful of stuff which I'm prepared to publish on The Real Mind. There were a lot of entries, most of which didn't cut the mustard.

But then I'm happy to go through the mill in order to get a gem or two. ;)

Adam Appleson at Zen Tactics has produced a brilliant article on How to Motivate Yourself.

The piece contains a cute introduction followed by 7 top tips for self-motivation. Tips which are actually pretty damn good. This is a high-quality article.

It's 4:30 am in the morning and there's a loud beeping sound in Jennifer's room. It's time for her weekly 8 mile training run before work. If you're like me, you're probably thinking, "Ugh. Who wants to get up at that hour?

Sam Alexander at Xamuel.com writes a fantastic piece called Three Ways to be More Present.

To invoke the method, force yourself to acknowledge that you might die any second. The point is to activate awareness of your own total mortality.”

Sam writes about the benefits of present-moment awareness and discusses some strategies for practicing and enforcing that kind of state.

Eliza at Silver and Grace writes an excellent article on The Science Behind Meditation. The article discusses the basics of brain-wave theory and how the different wave-functions in the mind relate to meditation.

Simona Rich at Personal Development Coach writes on a more spiritual side of meditation than I'm usually concerned with in an article entitled Meditation Experiences.

“You cannot avoid experiencing fourth dimension and other meditation experiences if you keep meditating. It would be the same as driving to another city and expecting to see the views of your old city. It does not work this way.”

Although the postulations made by Simona are not things I'd consider a necessary direct result of practice, I can tell by her writing that she is in-fact writing from experience. Also over the years I have learnt to be considerably less skeptical of the spiritual, or the "realms of the powers", and so I think the article has its place here.

Hand Crafted UK exposits on Chakras and Singing Bowls. Specifically - using the bowls in "healing work".

Again, a little more ritualistic than I personally go for, but I can see the advantage of these none the less. Even if you're not into mysticism a little symbolism can go a long way; plus I like the attitude and tone of this site in general.

Thanks for all the article submissions. If you have a submission for the next Meditation Carnival then use the link here.

Cheers.

Glad to see I cut the mustard :-)

Seriously though, thank you for this chance to share with others.

Re: The April meditation carnival – a collection of ...

I just noticed that I didn't fill in my "bla bla bla" text after your link Eliza. How embarssing.

Just so you know, that's part of my template when I'm constructing the post and by no means a personal comment.

Thanks for the submission! :)
