Letting things go – moving towards serenity

People have a tendency to cling on to things. I couldn’t say if this is a modern meme, or a part of the human condition, or some out-dated evolved emotional habit which has become exasperated by modern life.
This especially applies to things charged with high emotions – regrets, failures, whimsical times gone by…
It’s important that sometimes we remember to let these things go.
Letting go can happen automatically over time – someone comes out of a long relationship and eventually they start to let go of those feelings and move on.
However, we can actively cultivate a willingness to release in ourselves. A healthy dis-attachment to that which we cannot change, the past.
Pick up a nearby object and hold it tightly in your hand.
And now relax your hand ... and open it so that it drops to your desk.
Take a moment to think of something that’s been bothering you.
And allow yourself to just let it go – very similar to what you just did, except on the inside.
If this sounds weird or impossible to you, fine. But give it a go anyway.
It does not matter if it doesn’t go completely, only that you have engaged in the process of acceptance and release.
You only need to actively do this once in order to know how to do it.
A path of dis-attachment leads to serenity.

Year Rule
I forget where I heard this, but I remember hearing good advice once about the "year rule".
Basically, you think about something you're worried or concerned about right now, and then ask yourself if you will be worried about this thing one year from now. If the answer is no, which it is 95% of the time, then drop it immediately, and the realization you've just had about it not mattering next year will be a tremendous help in doing that.

Hey
letting go off things which bother us is really important to feel calm.
What I try is - I sit in a calm place and imagine and visualize -
I feel these while visualizing and telling myself - "All the negative thoughts are leaving my mind right now....Now, they have left my mind......In the vacant space in my mind right now, I am now receiving positive and happy thoughts. I can feel my brain being filled with positivity... I am now feeling good about it.... "
Just give it a try and am sure u r gonna love it too :)
by d way, I like the year rule concept mentioned above, sounds cool :)
